The Wine Industry Network for Expertise and Technology (Winetech) coordinates research, training and technology transfer in the wine industry. It encourages the production of quality wines and other grape-based products through the application of environmentally friendly and best technologies. It supports training and education at all levels, including the development of resource poor and new entry producers.

Mission of Winetech
To provide the South African Wine Industry with a sustainable basis of forefront technology and human resources in order to strengthen both local and international competitiveness and profitability.

Winetech Research Output Database
Winetech in collaboration with the SAWIS Wine Industry Library set up a Database of all completed and current projects that was funded by Winetech since 1999. The database is available for free on the SAWIS Industry Library website at www.sawis.co.za/winetech.php.

Winetech/SAWIS Wine Industry Dictionary
The wine industry identified an industry terminology gap and it was decided to compile a specialised dictionary for oenology and viticulture, as well as related subject fields. In the last few years the wine industry has expanded tremendously and it is of the utmost importance that role players can successfully communicate with one another. One of the requirements for successful communication is that specialised terms are used correctly and that users attach the same meaning to a specific term. The dictionary makes provision for three languages, namely Afrikaans, English and Xhosa. The trilingual dictionary is available for free on the SAWIS website at www.sawis.co.za/dictionary/

Winetech Technical Articles (Wynboer)
Articles based on Winetech funded research are published in Wineland Magazine (Wynboer) on a monthly basis. Current and archived articles since January 1999 is available on the website www.wineland.co.za/www.wynboer.co.za. A search function is also available on this site.
